What MOQ Should a New Supplement Brand Expect?
Minimum order quantity is one of the first questions new supplement brands ask. It should be. MOQ affects cash, testing, packaging, storage and how much risk you take on the first run.
MOQ depends on the format
Capsules, gummies, powders, liquids, sachets and topicals do not all behave the same way. Each format has different setup needs, ingredient handling, packaging steps and production flow.
That is why there is no honest one-size-fits-all MOQ. The right number depends on what you are making and how ready the project is.
Smaller is not always safer
A tiny run can reduce inventory risk, but it may raise cost per unit. It can also make packaging and ingredient sourcing less efficient.
A larger run can lower unit cost, but it puts more cash into inventory. If the label, flavor, offer or channel is not proven, that can create pressure fast.
Ask for the launch math
Before you accept an MOQ, ask how many finished units you need for launch, samples, influencer seeding, safety stock and reorder timing.
