Manufacturer vs Packer vs Distributor: What Is the Difference?
A lot of supplement buyers use manufacturer, packer and distributor as if they mean the same thing. They do not. Mixing them up can create gaps in the launch plan.
A manufacturer makes the product
The manufacturer is responsible for turning ingredients and specifications into a finished product. That can include formulation support, production, batch records and quality checks.
If you need a product made from a concept or formula, this is the role you are usually looking for.
A packer handles finished presentation
A packer may bottle, label, carton, case pack or prepare goods for shipment. Some manufacturers also provide these services, which can simplify the handoff.
If manufacturing and packaging are split, make sure someone owns the details between them.
A distributor moves product into channels
A distributor helps get product into stores or sales channels. That is different from making the product or shipping individual orders.
GIH is built around manufacturing, packaging, quality systems and 3PL support, giving founders one operational path from product to fulfillment-ready inventory.
Where to go next
If you are close to a quote conversation, bring the product format, channel, target price, rough volume and launch timing. Those details help the manufacturing team give you a more useful answer.
